Despite the advent of online selling, sales associates are still the most in-demand workers this year, according to Randstad Canada.
Sales associate topped the list of in-demand jobs with an annual salary of $38,200 to $50,600, says Randstad Canada, citing data from Gartner Talent Neuron and Randstad’s internal systems, which measure job openings, job placements and other data in Canadian markets.
Second in the list is driver, with an estimated annual salary of $36,650 to $48,600, while receptionist ($32,300 to $42,600 per year), welder ($19.60 to $28.50 per hour) and full stack developer ($60,600 to $125,200 per year) completed the top five.
The wide range of sectors and skill levels on this year’s reflect Canada’s relatively strong economy, with many of the roles requiring relatively little formal training, while providing good compensation ranges, says Randstad Canada.
“This year’s list of in-demand jobs is good news for younger Canadians pursuing the trades and practical courses,” says Patrick Poulin, president of staffing and inhouse at Randstad Canada. “While a college or university education is necessary for the engineering, marketing and IT roles we see on the list, a degree isn’t the only path to good, steady employment.”
