Kamloops has been named as one of the top-50 job markets in Canada.

Express Employment Professional released its second annual survey of the hot job markets in Canada on Tuesday.

Kamloops ranked 18th on the list that measures the available jobs per 1,000 people. Kamloops had 4.88 jobs per 1,000 population.

In 2014, Kamloops was ranked 39th.

Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec was named as the top job market with 8.55 jobs per 1,000 people.

The community southeast of Montreal has a diverse economic base with a strong dairy community, Quebec’s largest agricultural fair, a community college, and a biotech forestry plant.

“This year’s survey has again produced surprising results – finding hot job markets in traditionally higher unemployment regions, said Bob Funk, CEO of Express Employment Professionals. “Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, has replaced Fort McMurray, Alberta, as the hottest job market in the country. We are also seeing a clear cooling of once overheated job markets in the west along with the more stable eastern job markets.”

Drummondville, Quebec, and Grande Prairie, Alberta rounded out the top three. North Vancouver is the only B.C. community in the top 10.
