BRAMPTON— The federal government is providing the Brampton Multicultural Community Centre with $200,000 to help immigrant women in the community find good-paying jobs.

The money is part of $2.8 million earmarked for 14 Ontario projects designed to increase opportunities for women in non-traditional occupations, while giving females, particularly immigrant women, a chance for greater economic prosperity in Canada’s job market.

Federal Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women Dr. Kellie Leitch made the funding announcement at Brampton’s civic centre Wednesday morning. She was joined by Bramalea-Gore-Malton MP Bal Gosal and representatives from the Brampton Multicultural Community Centre.

The centre will receive $200,000 over two years. The local project is expected to help some 300 women, according to the Brampton Multicultural Community Centre.
