Whether you are a new Canadian or a new high school student—no matter who you are, you
have a story to tell.

One Canadian aged 12-18 and one 19+ will win $1,000 each.
YOUR STORIES OF BELONGING
For Susin Nielsen, the GG-winning YA author, it was a traumatic event at a high-school party that made her think for a moment that she might finally fit in.
For poet and GG-nominated author Priscila Uppal, it was a light-filled ceremony in her honour on the cusp of an intensive cancer treatment.
For Rawi Hage, the GG-nominated author of Cockroach, it was the uneasy parallels he felt with someone he despised.
Discover their stories at CBC Books starting October 8th.
For former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson, the question of belonging is at the heart of her 2014 Massey Lectures, Belonging: The Paradox of Citizenship.
Listen to the Massey Lectures starting October 8th.

Where do you feel like you belong, or like you never will?
More challenge details will be announced closer to the launch date of October 8th, but we can tell you that we’re looking for a true personal story of 400-500 words.
