The top 100 employers in Canada for 2015 were officially announced Tuesday, in the 15th consecutive year of Mediacorp’s Canada’s Top 100 Employers competition.
The winners this year have set the bar even higher for the next round of the competition, said Richard Yerema, managing editor at Mediacorp Canada.
“Each year, we see the baselines improve at the employers chosen for the Top 100,” he said. “From the small ripples that each employer’s initiatives create, we can recognize a wave that represents the evolving values of the Canadian workplace.”
In selecting this year’s winners, Mediacorp looked at the recruitment histories of over 80,000 employers across the country. From that group, 35,000 employers were invited to complete an extensive application process, including a detailed review of their HR practices. The competition is the largest of its kind in Canada.
Employers were graded on eight key areas, including physical workplace, work atmosphere and social, health financial and family benefits, vacation and time off, employee communications, performance management, training and skills development, as well as community involvement.
“It’s humbling for us to see employers across Canada take note of what the leaders in their industry are doing,” said Anthony Meehan, publisher at Mediacorp.
“Our project has never been about finding the most expensive or over-the-top employee benefits and perks. It’s always been about discovering the truly innovative and cost-effective initiatives that every employer in the country can adopt and improve.”
