Anti-Asian racism in Canada is not new. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, has heightened and highlighted the severity of this persistent problem across our communities. We have all seen the alarming statistics of rising incidents of hate directed against Asian communities across Canada, which is very likely under-reported. We have seen many people speak out about their daily experiences of being on the receiving end of discrimination, harassment and violence that is rooted in racism, misogyny, and xenophobia.
To create transformative change together, we must be united in solidarity and firm in our commitment to anti-racism.
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is convening a panel of leaders for a moderated and thoughtful conversation about the changes needed to move forward and how we can collectively advance anti-racism to create a truly inclusive and equitable Canadian society where everyone is welcomed, respected, and safe.
