Anti-Racism Engagement Dialogue – Business & Workforce Focus
posted on December 10, 2021

The Surrey Board of Trade has been awarded a grant from the Province of British Columbia to lead a business and workforce focused anti-racism data engagement strategy. We are seeking input from diverse ethnocultural and racialized groups within the Surrey business community to help government develop and amend anti-racism data legislation.
Racism is bad for business on all fronts. Not only does it place a company in legal jeopardy, but it also fosters a divisive work culture that undermines morale, teamwork, and productivity. It makes it harder to recruit, engage and retain diverse talent, and it tarnishes an organization’s reputation and brand.
Participants will be asked to engage in a dialogue focused on 4 key areas:

  • How you are represented in the data
  • Collection of race-based data
  • Access and use of race-based data
  • Impacts of using race-based data
Let’s talk about what is happening in workplaces and let’s look for solutions in a safe space at the Surrey Board of Trade DIGITAL Anti-Racism Data Legislation Community Engagement dialogues:
